The Ballroom

Javier Soliz Trio
Saturday, July 27   7-9pm

This month's ballroom concert series presents Javier Soliz: Classic Soul, vintage Rhythm and Blues, traditional Country and select Top 40 gems. Baptized by the songs of his daddy’s love of music; the blues, gospel, early rock pioneers and country legends and not least of all – the music of his namesake, Javier Solis: famed Mexican actor and singer of beloved boleros and rancheras. From the church to the roadhouse, it’s a sound that is all heart and soul. A 21st century torch-bearer of a style firmly rooted in another musical era, Javier Soliz brings to the stage all the vibe and swagger of classic hits penned by artists ranging from Ray Charles and Van Morrison to Muddy Waters, Clapton and Lionel Richie. In the here and now, he performs his thoughtfully curated setlists with nothing less than genuine respect for each song’s origin. Funky blues, soul ballads, retro Top 40 hits and swinging jazz; it’s all in the mix at a Javier Soliz gig.

The imposing two-story Masonic Building was constructed of rough-dressed limestone, on the west side of the square in the 1907. The lower floor provided rental space for commercial businesses while the second floor served as a meeting place for Masonic Lodge #216. After a fire in 1929 destroyed much of the original structure, it was rebuilt, and although the building had a new owner, the Masons continued to meet on the second floor until 1974. Since that time the Ballroom has been beautifully restored. Gleaming hardwood floors, mirrored walls, intimate lighting, a state of the art projection screen and sound system, among other beautiful amenities compose the remodel of this historic building. The Ballroom is available for private parties and rentals year round, please contact us for a tour of this stunning venue.
