The Ballroom

Nossas Novas is a Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba Jazz band based in Austin, Texas. The band is comprised of vocalist Sonia McLaughlin, lead guitar Vijay Meunier, bassist Brian Robinson, flute player Christina Morentes, and drummer Eric McClure. The band is fronted by Sonia McLaughlin, a Brazilian American who started the band three years ago to share Brazilian music with her home city of Austin, Texas with friends that she has made along the way. If you're looking to dance, swing, and have a little samba (or just sit back and chill) come and check us out!
The imposing two-story Masonic Building was constructed of rough-dressed limestone, on the west side of the square in the 1907. The lower floor provided rental space for commercial businesses while the second floor served as a meeting place for Masonic Lodge #216. After a fire in 1929 destroyed much of the original structure, it was rebuilt, and although the building had a new owner, the Masons continued to meet on the second floor until 1974. Since that time the Ballroom has been beautifully restored. Gleaming hardwood floors, mirrored walls, intimate lighting, a state of the art projection screen and sound system, among other beautiful amenities compose the remodel of this historic building. The Ballroom is available for private parties and rentals year round, please contact us for a tour of this stunning venue.
Blanco Ballet and Creative Dance is located in Blanco, Texas and operates out of the beautifully restored ballroom of Uptown Blanco www.blancoballet.com.
The Blanco Performing Arts utilizes the Ballroom as well and its mission is to present stellar performances, enhancing the enjoyment of the cultural arts, for the enrichment of the residents of Blanco and its environs www.blancoperformingarts.com.
