Edward Povey 2012 Workshops
We are honored to have Mr. Povey as a guest teacher at the Art Center. Edward Povey's workshop program is an amazing opportunity for any artist, designer (textile, potter, graphic artist, etc.), or anyone who has ever thought about picking up a pencil or brush. Mr. Povey gently, but firmly, guides beginners on up in their founding work in who they are as an artist. What kind of art that's deep down in someone's heart, and leads them in that direction to be really good.

THE STAGES OF MAKING A PAINTING MASTER WORKSHOP - This class is ideal for those who have taken the STRONG IDEAS FOR PAINTINGS Master Workshop. Paintings are built through a succession of stages. The successful artist understands these clear stages, and knows what happens during each chapter. Edward takes the students through to the finished and adjusted artwork, and explains just how radically you must be willing to adjust and evolve the design, the color and balance of the painting. He also discusses the recent works of the students.
**Suitable for oil and acrylic artists, but informative for photographers and artists who work in other mediums.

DRAWING OF PORTRAITS MASTER WORKSHOP - Accurate measuring and powerful portraits leading to strong likenesses. The students learn how to capture accurate lines which carry personality and emotion. They also learn how each face presents a 'landscape of light and shade' unique to itself. Intensely duplicating this landscape allows them to produce remarkable likenesses – quickly.
**Suitable for professionals, students, part-time artists, and all creative disciplines, particularly useful o sculptors and portrait painters, applies to realistic painters and even abstractionists.
