The Uptown Blanco Art Center, in the historical district of Blanco, TX on 3rd Street, is a community inspired facility that offers Hill Country residents a unique variety of fine art and craft instruction. Uptown Blanco Art Center is housed in a charming, refurbished craftsman style 1930's home. The Art Center is 100% wheelchair accessible. It has drawing and painting classrooms and a ceramics/clay class room. We offer a limited number of essential art supplies for the beginning student as well as the serious artist. Art classes and fine art workshops for adults and school age children are offered throughout the year.

Class Schedule

Workshops for Adults:

Fundamentals of Monoprints Workshop - Two Saturdays this Fall , $125 includes all materials. 10am - 4pm . One hour break for lunch - lunch not included. Will produce multiple prints/fine art prints to take home. Fabulous fun and great learning experience for the aspiring printmaker or anyone wishing to learn more about this medium. Instructor is well known artist Zena Stetka-Howe. Call for dates and times.

Pastel Plein Air - Instructor is Wanda Gamble, a very famous and collected Texas painter. Her work is in museums and corporate collection. Wanda's work can be seen on Harris Gallery website, Houston, Texas. We are offering an exciting 3-Day Workshop November 6-8, 2009 . Will begin on Friday evening and end at noon on Sunday. Price $295 for all three days. Instruction will be "on location" as well as in the Art Center. Call for dates and times.

Fearless Painting $75 - With non-representational painter Joe Winfield. One Saturday, TBD this Fall 10-4. Be inspired! Loosen up, be intuitive, sip wine, have fun. Informal, fun, intensive class with the rules of color theory and composition explained. Bring your own acrylics and learn to paint fearlessly!! Call for dates and times.

Classes for Children:

Ceramics for children (school age only) - 3 weeks, 6 classes (2 per week) - $120.
Each student needs to attend the full session of classes in order to benefit from this course. 20% discount if more than one child from the same family. Class includes materials.

Drawing for children (school age only) - Mon. and Wed. 3:45 to 5:15, 3 weeks, 6 classes (2 per week) - $120.
Each student needs to attend the full session of classes in order to benefit from this course. 20% discount if more than one child in same family. May be able to offer once a week instead of twice, for longer sessions. Please call.

Holiday Crafts for Children - 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10 am to 12 noon beginning Sept. 12th thru November. One month sessions =$60. Parents invited. Includes materials. Will make charming gifts for giving for Christmas! Please call Mary for more details.

Classes for Adults:

Ceramics for Adults - $135. Per session.  6 weeks, official class is one day per week, instruction for 3 hours.
Includes out-of-class studio time. Call for dates and time.

Ceramics Open Studio - Open studio time and kiln use available . Please call for details.

Drawing and Composition for Adults - 1st and 3rd Saturday sessions 9:30 am to 12 noon beginning September 5th. One session (four classes) $120. Second Session also four classes, begins Saturday Oct. 31st. Materials extra. Exceptionally qualified instructor with extensive background in Art Education and in working with students on any ability level.

Painting and Color Theory for Adults - Wednesdays 6 - 8:30 p.m.  4 week session = $120. ($30 per class) 6 week session = $144. ($24 per class).  Begins Sept. 2nd. Offered in full 4 week or 6 week sessions. Exceptionally qualified instructor with extensive background in Art Education and in working with students on any ability level

Pottery Parties - Birthday parties for children, bridal showers, scouts /clubs, church groups, etc. call for details.

USA Today reports the number of home-schooled kids in America hit 1.5 million in 2007, up 74% from when the Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics started keeping track in 1999. If your household is a part of these growing numbers, consider enrolling your child in our Home School Art Class. Our instructors have extensive training in many different mediums including art education and photography.

Seeking Qualified ART Instructors
The Uptown Blanco Art Center is always looking for qualified instructors in the fine arts; including ceramics, painting, drawing, metal working, glass, jewelry, printmaking, photography, textile arts, etc. We are interested in any fine art or craft class proposal you may have. Qualified instructors earn $20. per hour. All employees subject to a background check.
